Luis Pons Design lab is a design firm specializing in residential and hospitality design. The firm’s core values lie in finding unique and thoughtful solutions to our clients’ needs and desires through design.
Craft, thorough planning and execution are paramount in the work we do, taking into consideration every single detail that can help us tell a story.
Our designs emerge by creating a narrative directly from the clients' expression, taking aspects of their stories and reintroducing them in delightful ways. As a result, spaces and furnishings have a dynamic element that is memorable and pleasing. Inanimate objects come to life, acting as catalysts that reveal more about the people and their environments. Our aim is to create an encounter of vision, creativity and energy through design.
LPDL is a conceptual design laboratory that operates from the assumption that experience is mutable. Everything is not just open to interpretation, everything is open to reinterpretation, and that doorway never closes.
At the heart of founder Luis Pons’ design philosophy is his conviction that objects must transcend the merely aesthetic realm. To be truly valuable, they must also make a transformative statement and serve a functional purpose. In bringing this philosophy to life, Pons has created new design languages with his own vocabulary. His furnishings – handcrafted, aesthetically beautiful, functional – also tell a deeper story about society and culture. They speak to what we collectively believe about beauty, about our pursuit of it and about the excess that has resulted from this pursuit. Taking objects out of their context – for example, enveloping a simple mid-century cabinet in ornate picture frame moldings – he creates a sense of magic and surprise. He opens the doorway to a deeper understanding of where we have been culturally and where we might go. He invites us into his worldview and entices us to see our world through new eyes.
Using simple manufacturing methods and traditional craftsmanship, relying on people more than technology, Pons’ collections reflect his respect for the unique relationship that can develop between people and the objects in their life.
Luis Pons's work has been featured at influential international art and design expositions, including Art Basel, (Basel, Switzerland and Miami, USA) and the International Furniture Fair (Milan, Italy). In addition to the design of furnishings and objects, his projects include private residences, hotels, and commercial properties. Pons’ work has appeared in numerous books, including THE TROPICAL MODERN HOUSE (Rizzoli) and MIAMI INTERIORS (Taschen), as well as in major publications including Architectural Digest, Arquitectura Y Diseño, Architecture & Wohnen, Balthazar L’Magazine de l’homme, Casas, Elle Décor, Hotel Design, House & Garden, Interior Design, Metropolitan Home and Vogue.
